PROGNOSTIC SYSTEM OF TRACTIONAL MACULAR EDEMA FORMATION AFTER PHACOEMULSIFICATION OF AGE-RELATED CATARACT

There was conducted an in-depth study of 116 eyes (116 patients) with and without tractional macular edema (ME) after phacoemulsification (PE) on the occasion of age-related cataract. Further analysis revealed the risk factors of tractional ME after PE of age-related cataract: short anteroposterior axis of an eye, thickened lens, presence of vitreomacular adhesion, eye form of compressed ellipsoid. Based on the identified features by means of binary logistic regression we formed the predictive algorithm to determine the risk of formation of tractional ME after PE of age-related cataract, that showed high clinical efficacy.
